Join the Parade!

The theme this year is "Christmas in July"!

In honor of everything that makes both Christmas and summer vacations with the family special, the Pacific City Doryman's Association is super excited about this year's theme. How will you show your summer holiday spirit? Will you deck your bow with boughs of holly? Or put on a light display worthy of Walt Griswold?

To participate in the parade you must register/check-in at the parade staging area between 8:30am - 10am on Saturday, July 19, 2025. The staging area is located at the Tillamook County boat launch on Sunset Drive in Pacific City. Entrants line up in the order they arrive excluding royalty and traditional Dories.

Please note that parking is very limited during parade staging and we kindly ask that you please carpool or park at Bob Straub State Park and walk over. Thank you, we appreciate your understanding!

General Rules:
  1. Local political candidates may participate, and candidate names may be placed on the entry; however, NO political material is to be distributed.
  2. Tossing (no throwing) candy or swag from parade entrants to spectators along parade route must be off the roadway for the safety of all.

The Legendary Pacific City Dory Days Parade!

Pacific City Dory Days—originally known as the Dory Derbies—was started in 1959 by Paul Hanneman, who from 1965 to 1990 served in the Oregon House of Representatives and famously sponsored Oregon’s landmark “bottle bill.” As communities across Oregon celebrated the state’s centennial in 1959, Hanneman thought Pacific City should have something of its own to celebrate it's unique local history. Thus a legend was born.

Today Dory Days is weekend-long, village-wide, multi-generation family tradition. Many of the families that participate in the parade have been for decades. Passing the tradition on to their children, and grandchildren. Visitors come from near and far to enjoy the parade, view vintage dory boats, eat fresh dory-caught fish, and buy local artisan wares.

“The Dory Fleet is old heritage, tradition, part of the community. It’s one of those things that everyone likes to hold onto. When we get a chance to see all the dory boats and fishermen and families all out enjoying themselves, it’s magical.”
— Kimberley Miller, "Miller Time"
